The most visited tourist place in India- " The India Gate"
It was my recent journey to New Delhi for some official work. It was a couple of weekends ago, and I decided to visit the capital of India with my husband & parents. We all wanted to visit India gate very much because many of my friends told me about how beautiful and wonderful that place is. So finally we booked our train ticket from Jabalpur to New Delhi in Third Class AC Coach and the fare for one person is Rs 1300/- with internet charges, booked a hotel packed our bags and our trip began. We reached the station at 6 pm as our train is at 6.15pm from Jabalpur station. Our train came at time and we reached New Delhi in morning at 11.40am. We booked our taxi from prepaid taxi counter and reached our hotel- INOVA RESIDENCY which we had booked from Oyo Rooms online. We took rest, had a bath, tasty lunch in a hotel and went to market in the evening for shopping. Next day after completing our work we reached Bus stand which was at a walking distance from the hotel and we picked bus no. 610 to reach India Gate and it took only 10mins to reach there.
Finally, we reached the most visited tourist place in India- The India gate, which for built in the memory of 82000 soldiers died during First War. This beautiful war memorial is located at the centre of New Delhi near Rajpath. This memorial bears the names of 13000 soldiers killed in the First war. The height of this monument is 42meters and also called as All India War Memorial and built under the supervision of Duke Connaught during 1921. This place is known for its patriotic feeling as it represents the name of those unknown soldiers who gave their life to save the pride of their nation. A flame beneath the India gate is also ignited for those soldiers and also known as "AMAR JAWAN JYOTI" and ignited since 1971. This place is very attractive for tourists came from different parts of the world and remains mostly quite.
This beautiful architecture stands on a low base of red Bharatpur stone. During the night, this monument looks more attractive and colorful with fountains displaying different lights on it.
How to reach:
- By Bus: This is the most suitable option that will allow you to reach India gate. You can choose Delhi Transport Corporation buses, that allows you to view all popular places sightseeing in Delhi.
- By Train: You can pick the direct train to reach New Delhi by rail route and at Delhi you can use Delhi metro train service to visit the India gate or other tourist places.
- By Taxi: You can hire a prepaid taxi from the counter or book your taxi online with different cab services available at Delhi.
- By auto: You can take local auto and reach your destination.
Things to do at India Gate:
- Reach India Gate early in the morning and feel the calmness of that place.
- Respect the "Amar Jawan Jyoti" and prayer for those soldiers who died for our country.
- Enjoy the night view of India gate with beautiful fountain sparkling with different light colors.
- India gate is the best place for picnic with family, sit on the grass and enjoy the sun and beautiful monument in the winter season.
- Walk on Rajpath and enjoy the scene.

Delhi, being the capital city of India, is one of the most popular tourist places in India. I have visited Delhi almost ten times. But it is unfortunate that, every time I go to that place for my business purposes not to explore different places and enjoy. The food was really good there. This coming month, I am planning to visit the capital city with my family. In Delhi, there are wide number of hotels and restaurants that accommodate every kind of visitors or tourists. I prefer to stay in the budget hotels as these hotels provide value for money.
